A 20-year restoration project has transformed a 2,000-year-old historical network of ancient ruins, caves and tunnels into this luxury hotel, which features local materials, furnishings and craftsmanship across its 51 unique rooms and suites. A raft of eco initiatives bagged it a ’Best Sustainable Hotel for Europe’ accolade, while a community programme helps local people develop skills to enhance long-term employment prospects.

Turkey’s first independent carbon-neutral hotel group The Stay Hotels operates a range of properties with a focus on sustainability, including this design-led, adult-only resort, a beautiful hideaway set in olive-tree lined gardens overlooking the Aegean on the Çeşme peninsula. Construction is of reclaimed and recycled materials, including wood and bricks from ancient Anatolian houses, and the resort is pursuing a range of sustainability initiatives to achieve its stated aim of zero waste.
