Switzerland is experiencing a boom in hospitality, with the Alpine country seeing a wave of new hotel openings alongside record performance in occupancy rates over the past year.

The destination’s appeal is largely driven by wellness retreats and ski season surges. Huus Quell by Appenzeller Huus in Gonten, a five-star wellness-led hotel, was recently recognised in Time Magazine’s 2026 list of the ’World’s Greatest Places’. Meanwhile, GCC travellers are increasingly booking European ski breaks, with Saudi Arabia seeing a 113% rise in Maison Sport bookings in 2024–25, ranking third globally by revenue.

Findings from the 2026 Connecting Travel Insight Report show a similar pattern, with data from travel analytics firms RateHawk and Emerging Travel Group ranking Switzerland eighth among the top 10 outbound destinations for GCC travellers, reinforcing demand across its hotel sector.

Switzerland’s hotel sector hit a new peak in 2025 with 43.9 million overnight stays, up 2.6% on 2024, while net room occupancy rose to 56.8%, surpassing its 2019 pre‐pandemic record.

In 2026, a wave of high‐end openings range from reimagined heritage addresses such as Zurich’s Villa Florhof, relaunching as a Lalique‐branded hotel, to MICE‐ready newcomer Le Clay in Lavaux, pairing vineyard views with Hyrox‐branded fitness for team‐building.

Mount Titlis will also debut a year‐round Alpine experience in the new Titlis Tower, with a 70‐metre Horizon Deck, the world’s highest Rolex boutique and Joseph’s Restaurant offering panoramic dining at 3,000 metres.
