Abu Dhabi airport records 93,000 daily passengers during 5-day June peak

Zayed International Airport (AUH) handled more than 93,000 passengers a day and nearly 500 daily flights between 26 and 30 June 2026, amid accelerating summer travel demand.

 

The airport connected travellers to more than 100 destinations worldwide during the five-day period, while average daily passenger and flight volumes exceeded those recorded over the same dates last year.

 

Abu Dhabi Airports attributed the growth to sustained travel demand driven by an expanding international route network, alongside strong performance from local carriers and increased services from global airline partners.

 

AUH’s terminal, which opened in November 2023, has helped accommodate rising traffic through biometric-enabled passenger processing and improved operational efficiency.

Abu Dhabi Airports said continued investment in infrastructure, airline partnerships and the passenger experience will support future growth and strengthen the emirate’s position as a global aviation, tourism and trade hub.

 

The update comes as UAE airports prepare for one of the busiest travel periods of the year. Dubai International Airport (DXB) is expecting to welcome close to three million passengers during the first half of July, with daily traffic forecast to exceed 200,000 travellers and peak at more than 225,000 on 12 July.

 

Recent Skyscanner data also highlighted Abu Dhabi’s growing role as an international hub, with AUH overtaking DXB as the world’s top layover airport. In 2025, AUH welcomed a record 32.5 million travellers, up 12.8% year-on-year.
