Air India to start Guwahati flights to Dubai and Abu Dhabi

Air India will introduce weekly direct flights from Guwahati to Dubai and Abu Dhabi from 4 August 2026, expanding international connectivity between northeast India and the UAE. 

 

The Dubai service will depart Guwahati’s Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport (GAU) every Tuesday at 12:25, arriving at Dubai International Airport (DXB) at 16:10 local time. The return flight will leave DXB at 17:10, arriving back in GAU at 00:25 the following day.

 

The Abu Dhabi service will depart Guwahati every Wednesday at 15:05, arriving at Zayed International Airport (AUH) at 18:50 local time. Return flights will leave AUH at 19:50 and arrive in GAU at 03:05 on Thursday.

 

One-way economy fares start from INR22,397 (US$260) between Guwahati and Dubai, while fares to Abu Dhabi start from INR37,302 (US$433).

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said the new services would “strengthen Assam’s international connectivity” and further position Guwahati as a gateway to Southeast Asia. He added that direct flights to Vietnam are also under consideration.

 

The announcement comes just days after European Union (EU) member states withdrew long-standing travel advisories for most of Assam, which had been in place due to security concerns linked to insurgency in parts of the state.

 

The launch also follows Air India Express’ recent introduction of Abu Dhabi services from Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA), marking the first international flights from the new airport as the Air India Group continues to expand its UAE network.

 

Across the Middle East, the airline serves destinations in  Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman and Kuwait, connecting the region with cities across India.
