Armenia extends visa-free entry for GCC travellers to 2027

Armenia has extended its temporary visa-free entry programme for eligible GCC travellers and qualifying residents until 1 July 2027, allowing them to visit the South Caucasus destination without obtaining a visa in advance. 

The extension applies to citizens of the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain and Oman. Eligible residents holding valid residence permits issued by GCC countries, the United States, EU member states or Schengen Area countries also qualify. Under the visa, travellers can stay in Armenia for up to 180 days within a one-year period, provided their residence permit remains valid for at least six months from the date of entry.

Travellers are, however, advised to check the latest eligibility requirements before booking, as entry rules vary depending on nationality and residency status. The extension builds on Armenia’s visa-free entry policy introduced in July 2025, when the country first expanded visa-free access for GCC citizens and qualifying residents to strengthen tourism links with the region.

Armenia has become an increasingly popular short-haul destination for Gulf travellers. The country is known for attractions including Yerevan, Lake Sevan, Dilijan National Park, Garni Temple and Tatev Monastery, alongside its mountain scenery, cooler summer climate and cultural heritage.

Air connectivity between the GCC and Armenia has also expanded in recent years, with direct flights linking Yerevan to Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Doha, Kuwait City, Muscat and Riyadh. Several UAE carriers operate direct services to the country, with Air Arabia adding six weekly flights between Abu Dhabi and Yerevan in 2025, further boosting capacity on the route.
