Brand research reveals growing demand for destination immersion
Azamara Cruises has launched a new global brand campaign, ‘The Next Big Thing is Small’, highlighting the growing appeal of small-ship cruising as travellers seek more immersive, destination-focused experiences.
The campaign centres on Azamara’s destination-first approach, with longer stays in port, access to lesser-known ports and deeper cultural experiences.
According to the cruise line’s latest brand research, conducted with Brand Alloy, 83% of travellers value access to lesser-visited ports, while 77% believe Azamara offers the strongest destination immersion. Longer stays in port were identified as a key differentiator by 75% of respondents, while 79% highlighted the intimate small-ship experience as one of the brand’s defining features. Guests also cited uncrowded public spaces, downtown docking and personalised service from crew members as standout benefits.

The rollout coincides with the next phase of Azamara Forward, the cruise line’s fleetwide enhancement programme, which includes upgraded accommodation, refreshed dining venues and redesigned social spaces across its four-ship fleet.
The cruise line recently unveiled a collection of 2027 overland experiences, allowing guests to extend select voyages with two- to five-day inland journeys across Asia, Africa, South America and the South Pacific. Featured itineraries include destinations such as Angkor Wat in Cambodia, Bora Bora, Vietnam and Peru, with packages combining accommodation, transfers, guided tours, selected meals and flights where required.
Azamara has also launched its 2027 Alaska Cruisetours, combining cruises with land journeys across Alaska and Western Canada. Operating from June to August 2027, the itineraries mark the cruise line’s return to Alaska after a seven-year absence.
