New beaches and waterfronts developments planned
Bahrain is set to invest more than BD12 million (nearly US$32 million) in five new public beach and waterfront projects across the Muharraq Governorate on the country’s north-eastern coast.
Led by the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture (MMAA), the initiative will cover four coastal destinations and feature public beaches and waterfront promenades. Reem Bucheeri, Director of Property and Investment at MMAA, also highlighted that some projects will “incorporate investment components to ensure sustainability and long-term operation.”
Key developments include a 10,000-square-metre waterfront site in Galali planned as a public beach and investment destination, alongside two seafront promenades in Hidd. It also includes a 51,000-square-metre public beach and Sama Bay, another beachfront project, in Diyar Al Muharraq.

Bahrain allows tourism businesses to defer Q1 fees
The move comes as Bahrain continues investing in tourism infrastructure. Earlier this year, the kingdom launched its National Aviation Strategy 2026-2030, targeting an increase from 66 to 100 destinations by 2030 alongside a 52% rise in air connectivity.
In April 2026, Bahrain introduced an optional scheme allowing hotels, furnished apartments and licensed restaurants to defer first-quarter regulatory fees to support tourism businesses affected by disruption linked to the Iran conflict.
