Dubai Airports introduces UAE flag design for air traffic control tower

Dubai Airports has unveiled a UAE-themed design for the Air Traffic Control (ATC) tower at Dubai International airport (DXB), transforming one of the airport’s most recognisable structures with the colours of the national flag.

The redesigned tower places the UAE flag at the centre of the structure, making it visible to passengers arriving at and departing from DXB. The launch was marked by an airside ceremony featuring a Dubai Police parade. 

Majed Al Joker, Chief Operating Officer of Dubai Airports, said: “The ATC tower is one of the most important and symbolic structures at DXB. By bringing the colours of the UAE flag to this iconic landmark, we are celebrating the ambition of the nation we serve while recognising the extraordinary teams and partners who ensure DXB is always flying the flag, connecting the world.”

Standing 89 metres tall, the ATC tower has been at the centre of DXB’s operations since the airport’s expansion in 2000. The tower is operated by Dubai Air Navigation Services and oversees aircraft movements around the clock.

The redesign comes as Dubai International continues to strengthen its position as one of the world’s leading aviation hubs. The airport welcomed a record 95 million passengers in 2025, retaining its status as the world’s busiest airport for international passenger traffic while ranking second globally for total throughput. 

Dubai Airports was also recently recognised in Gallup’s 2026 Exceptional Workplace Awards, becoming the only aviation organisation included in this year’s list.
