Emerald Collection expands Maldives portfolio

Guests will be offered all-inclusive island-hopping packages in the Indian Ocean

The Emerald Collection has announced the acquisition of a second five-star luxury property in Raa Atoll. The property, named Emerald Faarufushi Resort & Spa, was originally inaugurated in summer 2019 as the Faarufushi Resort & Spa. Now, the rebranded resort will welcome guests from 1 May 2022, after undergoing a restyling to integrate the Emerald Collection’s  brand DNA along with a selection of new services.

Emerald Faarufushi Resort & Spa Water Villa

Just a 25-minute boat ride from sister property Emerald Maldives Resort & Spa, Emerald Faarufushi is located on a seven-hectare island in Raa Atoll, surrounded by a 100-hectare private lagoon with a natural coral reef.

The property comprises 80 independent villas. A private dock leads to 39 Water Villas and three Superior Water Villas, all with private pools. There are also 27 Beach Villas, 10 of which have private pools, along with 10 Family Beach Villas with private pools and one Presidential Beach Villa.

The key highlight of the property will be the brand’s deluxe all-inclusive concept. A range of water sports and activities are included in the costs of the stay, as well as à la carte dining at its four restaurants.

Other facilities include the Emerald Spa with eight panoramic treatment rooms and the Dolphin Kids Club, conceived as a real “kids resort within the resort”, providing a rich programme of dedicated activities. There’s also a Technogym-equipped fitness centre overlooking the sea, along with tennis and padel courts.

Commenting on the expansion, The Emerald Collection partner and managing director Aldo Scarapicchia said: “We’re excited about this new acquisition, which allows us to consolidate the presence of The Emerald Collection as a luxury hospitality brand in the Indian Ocean with a focus on sustainability. Emerald Faarufushi Resort & Spa is significantly different from Emerald Maldives Resort & Spa, both in design and in the concept, which is characterised by what we call ‘Barefoot Elegance’ luxury, and modern in style. Starting from next summer, we’ll offer our guests an incredible experience of island hopping [across] two islands whose landscape and facilities will be complementary, mainly with the combined accommodation packages between the sister properties.”
