Service available in all cabin classes
Emirates has introduced Starlink WiFi on its Airbus A380 fleet, with the first retrofitted aircraft now in service following installation and certification in Newquay, UK.
The upgrade introduces high-speed onboard connectivity, with three Starlink antennas fitted to support higher bandwidth and consistent coverage across both decks of the aircraft.
Onboard speeds increase from less than 1 Mbps under previous systems to more than 2 Gbps of total aircraft bandwidth, enabling passengers to stream content on personal devices. The service will be offered free of charge across all cabin classes.
The A380 configuration has been adapted to the aircraft’s double-deck layout and higher passenger capacity, with additional wireless access points and a third antenna to maintain consistent connectivity across the cabin.
The move builds on earlier installations across the airline’s Boeing 777-300ER fleet, where 25 aircraft have already been equipped with Starlink. More than 650,000 passengers have travelled on Starlink-enabled flights to date.
Further installations are scheduled throughout 2026, with retrofits set to expand at Emirates Engineering facilities in Dubai as part of a wider fleet upgrade programme.

The Starlink integration forms part of Emirates’ broader retrofit programme, with 93 aircraft refurbished to date. Upgrades include Premium Economy cabins, enhanced Business Class and First Class products, refreshed interiors and inflight entertainment systems offering more than 6,500 channels.
In 2025, the airline also opened an US$8 million Centre of Hospitality Excellence to train 25,000 cabin crew, supporting service delivery alongside onboard upgrades.
The deployment comes as airlines accelerate investment in onboard connectivity, with Qatar Airways introducing Starlink WiFi on select aircraft and United Airlines outlining similar plans across parts of its fleet.
Emirates has also introduced additional passenger support measures in recent weeks, including a flexible rebooking option allowing travellers to manage changes within 72 hours of departure following earlier flight cancellations this year, alongside a pet relocation support service in the UAE for outbound bookings involving animals.
