Passenger upgrades include wider seats, increased legroom and extra baggage allowance
Emirates’ Premium Economy cabin will be available to customers flying between Dubai in the UAE and Kolkata in India from 18 July 2025.
The Dubai-based airline will operate its retrofitted Boeing 777 aircraft to this popular destination four times a week, with 24 dedicated seats on each flight.
This introduction follows an “overwhelmingly positive” response to the premium cabin class on Emirates’ Dubai routes to three other Indian cities – Mumbai, Bengaluru and Ahmedabad.
The Dubai-Kolkata route, flight EK573, will operate on Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, departing Kolkata at 20:45 and arriving in Dubai at 00:05 local time. The return service, EK572, will leave Dubai at 13:05 and land in Kolkata at 19:15.
Passengers booking premium economy on this route can look forward to a host of “thoughtful touches”, including wide cream leather seats with increased legroom and deeper recline, plus adjustable headrests and cushioned leg rests.
Each seat is also equipped with a 13.3-inch HD personal screen featuring Bluetooth headphone pairing and enhanced Wi-Fi.
Dining is elevated too with curated menus served on Royal Doulton China and a selection of premium beverages.
Travellers will also benefit from a generous baggage allowance of 35 kilograms checked baggage, 15kg more than in economy, as well as 10 kilogram carry-on luggage.

Travel agents have welcomed the move, noting the strong demand for a product that bridges the gap between economy and business class.
Speaking to The Times of India, Anil Punjabi, National Committee Member of the Travel Agents Federation of India, said premium economy class fares are only about 60 to 70% higher than economy, yet offer “significantly more comfort and value for medium and long-haul travellers”.
Emirates operates 11 flights a week from Kolkata to Dubai.
