US$38 billion deal revealed on first day of Dubai Airshow 2025
Emirates has significantly bolstered its Boeing widebody backlog with a US$38 billion order for 65 additional 777-9 aircraft announced on the Dubai Airshow’s opening day.
The commitment expands Emirates’ Boeing backlog to 315 widebody aircraft, including 270 from the 777X series, strengthening its position as the world’s largest operator of the 777.
Under this latest agreement, deliveries will extend through 2038, reflecting evolving fleet requirements that now include 270 Boeing 777Xs, 10 777 freighters and 35 Boeing 787s.
Emirates has also taken options to convert part of this order to the as-yet undeveloped 777-10 or 777-8 models, supporting ongoing Boeing feasibility studies.

Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, CEO of Emirates Airline and Group, said the order “is a long-term commitment and testament to our partnership with Boeing and GE, and to US aerospace.”
Stephanie Pope, CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, added: “Boeing has been a proud supporter of Emirates over the past 40 years as the airline has grown into one of the world’s leading carriers and developed a reputation for excellence and innovation. We look forward to growing our partnership and for Emirates to fly Boeing airplanes for decades to come.”
Dubai Airshow 2025 runs until 21 November and, in its largest edition to date, is hosting more than 1,500 exhibitors, over 200 aircraft, and expects a record 148,000 trade visitors. Alongside commercial deals, the show features an expanded Space Pavilion and what organisers describe as its largest-ever flying display, including the debut of Joby Aviation’s S4 eVTOL, the first advanced mobility aircraft to appear in the Airshow’s flying programme.
