Etihad Rail reveals first passenger station in Fujairah

Etihad Rail has unveiled its first passenger station in Fujairah ahead of the launch of UAE passenger rail services later in 2026.

 

Spanning 51,900 square metres, the station is located in the Madinat Al Hilal area, around a 12-minute drive from Fujairah International Airport (FJR), strengthening regional transport connectivity. Nearby attractions include Umbrella Beach Corniche and Sakamkam Fort.

 

During the first phase, Etihad Rail will simultaneously launch three initial routes connecting Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Fujairah, with travel schedules to be announced closer to the opening date, according to Adhraa Al Mansoori, Executive Director of Commercial at Etihad Rail.

 

Journeys between Abu Dhabi and Fujairah are expected to take 105 minutes, compared with up to three hours by road, with trains operating at speeds of up to 200km per hour.

Passengers across the rail network will have access to retail outlets, a VIP lounge, onboard Wi-Fi and dining carriages, alongside service facilities such as automated payment machines and waiting areas. 

 

Al Mansoori added that nearly 70% of the materials used in developing the national railway network were sourced locally through 97 UAE-based suppliers, supporting domestic industries. 

 

Etihad Rail is just one of several major transport infrastructure projects underway across the UAE in 2026. Dubai is also preparing to launch flying taxi services, with the first vertiport already completed. Developed in partnership with Joby Aviation, the service is expected to expand into Abu Dhabi and Ras Al Khaimah following initial operations and trial phases.

 

The emirate is also advancing plans for the Dubai Loop underground transport network, aimed at easing congestion in high-density areas. The first phase of the project is expected to span 6.4km and cost AED565 million (US$154 million) to develop.
