Etihad to debut first-ever Middle East flights to Calgary, Canada

Etihad Airways is set to become the first Middle Eastern carrier to operate non-stop flights to Canada’s west coast, with a new Abu Dhabi–Calgary service launching on 3 November 2026.

 

The UAE’s national airline will offer four weekly flights linking Zayed International Airport (AUH) and Calgary International Airport (YYC), with tickets now available for booking.

 

Departures from Abu Dhabi are scheduled for Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays at 08:45, arriving in Calgary at 12:20. The return service will depart YYC at 18:05 and arrive in Abu Dhabi at 19:00 the following day.

 

The route will be operated by Etihad’s Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, featuring the carrier’s latest Business and Economy cabins designed to deliver enhanced long-haul comfort.

For UAE travellers, Calgary provides a gateway to the western Canada and the spectacular Canadian Rockies, renowned for their dramatic landscapes and year-round adventure experiences. The city also has a storied sporting legacy, having hosted the 1988 Winter Olympics.

 

Meanwhile, for Canadian travellers, it opens “direct access to Abu Dhabi’s rich culture and year-round experiences”, said Antonoaldo Neves, CEO of Etihad Airways.

With the addition of Calgary, Etihad continues to strengthen its North American network, which already includes Toronto, New York and Chicago, alongside a new Charlotte service launching in March 2026.

 

Passengers travelling to the United States from Abu Dhabi benefit from the airport’s exclusive US Customs and Border Protection Preclearance facility – the only one in the Middle East – allowing them to arrive as domestic passengers and save time on arrival.

 

Etihad continues to expand its global reach with a series of regional firsts, recently announcing the Middle East’s first non-stop flights to Luxembourg from 29 October 2026, and the first direct connection between the UAE and Palma de Mallorca, launching June 2026.
