EU and Qatar ink landmark aviation agreement

The new deal will mean more flights between the European Union and Qatar by both EU carriers and Qatar Airways

A newly announced aviation treaty between the EU and Qatar will provide more opportunities for consumers, airlines and airports in both destinations.

Along with ensuring open and fair competition to guarantee a level playing field,  the new agreement will allow EU-based airlines to operate direct flights from any airport in Qatar the same would apply to Qatar Airways with regards to airports in the EU. In addition, airports in EU countries – including Germany, France, Italy, Belgium and the Netherlands – will be required to gradually increase their capacity by 2024.
