Tamara Lohan brings two decades of experience to the interim role
Hyatt Hotels has appointed Tamara Lohan as Global Brand Leader for its luxury portfolio, as the group expands its presence in the high-end hospitality sector worldwide.
In her interim role, Lohan will oversee the global strategy for Hyatt’s luxury brands, with a focus on strengthening brand consistency and enhancing guest experiences across the group’s expanding portfolio.
A seasoned hospitality entrepreneur, Lohan co-founded Mr & Mrs Smith in 2003, initially as a members’ travel club showcasing a curated collection of boutique hotels in the UK. Under her leadership, the platform evolved into a global hotel brand featuring independent properties worldwide.
Over a 22-year tenure, Lohan held multiple senior positions, including Chief Technical Officer for 17 years, before stepping in as the Chair of the board. Following Hyatt’s acquisition of Mr & Mrs Smith in 2023, she joined the hospitality group, integrating more than 1,000 of the collection’s properties into the World of Hyatt, the group’s loyalty programme.
Lohan’s focus on personalisation, experiential travel and evolving luxury trends will now guide Hyatt’s global strategy across its 125 luxury hotels, which collectively comprise more than 21,000 keys.

Commenting on her appointment, Mark Hoplamazian, President and CEO of Hyatt, said: “Tamara brings world-class luxury expertise, and her leadership will further strengthen our ability to differentiate our luxury brands while growing with intent in the markets our guests and owners value most.”
Lohan’s appointment comes as Hyatt accelerates expansion in the luxury segment, with major properties across four brands set to open in 2026.
In Q1, Miraval Resorts will debut in Saudi Arabia with the opening of Miraval The Red Sea, an adults-only wellness retreat featuring 180 rooms and what is set to be the largest spa in the Red Sea region.
Park Hyatt will enhance its North American presence with new properties in Vancouver and across Mexico – in Los Cabos, Cancun and Mexico City – while Park Hyatt Tokyo will reopen following renovations. The brand will also launch a new property in Phu Quoc, Vietnam.
Further strengthening its footprint in Mexico, Alila will debut Alila Mayakob, a new beachfront resort. Meanwhile, The Unbound Collection by Hyatt is expanding in Europe with new openings in Nice, France and Frankfurt, Germany.
These openings will bring Hyatt’s global luxury pipeline to more than 170 hotels encompassing 141,000 rooms worldwide.
