Public West Hollywood will mark US west coast debut
Ian Schrager is bringing his Public hotel brand to Los Angeles with the upcoming launch of Public West Hollywood in spring 2026, marking the brand’s second location and the first on the west coast. Reservations for the 137-key property will begin in January 2026.
First inaugurated in 2017 in New York City, the Public hotel will be Schrager’s third development in the Southern California region.
The hotel will occupy the former Standard Hotel site on the Sunset Strip in West Hollywood. Designs for the property will be led by Schrager in collaboration with British architect John Pawson and will follow the brand’s four key pillars: service, style, entertainment and experience.

‘Luxury for all’ is an essential component of Schrager properties, offering high-end amenities at accessible prices. In line with this, planned facilities at the new property include a pool and social hub lobby, alongside three food, beverage and entertainment outlets. A 16,000-square-foot rooftop terrace will provide guests with 360-degree views of the city.
Public West Hollywood adds to Schrager’s wider portfolio, which includes the global Edition Hotels brand developed in partnership with Marriott International. He has also created residential projects in New York, such as Chrystie and 160 Leroy Street Residences, and historic entertainment venues including Studio 54 and the Palladium.
Schrager made his UAE debut in 2018 with the Abu Dhabi Edition hotel, followed by the Dubai Edition hotel in 2021.
The brand will continue its expansion in the UAE with the upcoming Dubai Beach Edition hotel, scheduled to open in 2029, alongside 165 residences, marking the launch of Edition residences in the country.
