New bus‑and‑fly service keeps travellers moving amid airspace closure
Jazeera Airways has introduced daily flights connecting Qaisumah Hafar Al Batin International Airport in Saudi Arabia with Al Ain International Airport in the UAE, maintaining essential regional connectivity amid ongoing flight disruptions caused by the Iran conflict.
Launched on 16 March, the new route provides travellers with an alternative link to and from Kuwait City while operations at Kuwait International Airport remain temporarily suspended. Passengers departing from Kuwait are transported by bus to Qaisumah before boarding onward flights to Al Ain.
The service offers convenient onward access to international destinations through major UAE hubs, including Dubai International Airport (DXB) and Abu Dhabi’s Zayed International Airport.
Jazeera Airways CEO Barathan Pasupathi said the new service represents the first air connection between Kuwait and the UAE since the suspension of flights at Kuwait International Airport.

“Maintaining connectivity during challenging circumstances is a responsibility we take very seriously which is demonstrated by the fact that Jazeera Airways is the only airline operating from Kuwait currently,” he said.
Expanding its adaptive network strategy, Jazeera Airways has also introduced bus-and-flight itineraries via Qaisumah to additional destinations. These include daily flights to Istanbul, launched on 15 March, and 31 weekly flights to Egypt, offering more than 4,000 seats per week. The airline continues to operate routes from Qaisumah to Amman, Jordan, and Colombo, Sri Lanka, with further expansion planned, including future services to India.
As with Kuwait, Bahrain’s airspace is closed to normal traffic with Gulf Air temporarily operating a number of flights via Dammam in Saudi Arabia.
Qatar Airways has revealed plans to resume limited flight operations to and from Doha between 18 and 28 March, operating services to 80 destinations across five continents during the 10‑day period.
