NCL expands Great Stirrup Cay with new family attractions

Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) has expanded its private island destination, Great Stirrup Cay in the Bahamas, with new attractions and infrastructure upgrades ahead of the opening of Great Tides Waterpark on 4 September 2026.

 

The latest additions include the Great Life Lagoon, featuring a beach-entry pool and swim-up bars, alongside a new tram network designed to improve access across the island. The cruise line has also introduced additional private cabanas, food trucks and upgraded guest facilities as part of the wider transformation.

 

Great Tides Waterpark will feature 19 slides and experiences centred around the 170-foot Tidal Tower. Highlights include the Breakwater Blasters water coasters, The Great Slide, the 9,000-square-foot Splash Cay children’s zone and the 800-foot Wandering River.

Guests wishing to experience the opening of Great Tides Waterpark can sail on Norwegian Luna’s seven-night Caribbean itinerary departing Miami on 29 August 2026. The voyage includes calls at Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic; St Thomas, US Virgin Islands; Tortola, British Virgin Islands; and Great Stirrup Cay, Bahamas.

 

The 3,565-passenger vessel features attractions including the Aqua Slidecoaster, the multi-level Moon Climber course, 17 dining venues and 18 bars and lounges.

 

NCL recently held a float-out ceremony for Norwegian Aura, which is set to become the largest ship in the company’s fleet when it enters service in May 2027. The vessel will accommodate 3,880 guests and will be approximately 10%larger than Norwegian Aqua and Norwegian Luna.
