Great Stirrup Cay attraction to debut on 4 September 2026
Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) has announced that Great Tides Water Park at Great Stirrup Cay, the cruise line’s private island destination in the Bahamas, will open on 4 September 2026 during Norwegian Luna’s seven-night Caribbean sailing. Guests sailing to Great Stirrup Cay on or after that date can now purchase day passes and reserve private cabanas in advance.
Spanning nearly six acres, Great Tides Water Park will feature 19 slides and attractions centred around the 170-foot Tidal Tower, including the Breakwater Blasters water coasters, body slides, tube slides and racing slides. Other highlights include Cliffside Cove, home to what NCL describes as the industry’s first and highest cliff jumps, The Great Slide, a four-person body slide and the adults-only Grotto Bar. Multiple new food trucks will also be introduced as part of the experience.
Rebecca Ransom, Business Development Manager Middle East at NCL said: “With the best activities for families and for every type of traveller, from high-energy slides to laid-back lagoon experiences, guests can now purchase their day passes ahead and lock in an unforgettable day on the most spectacular private island in the Caribbean.

The waterpark forms part of NCL’s wider transformation of Great Stirrup Cay, which has recently added the Great Life Lagoon, featuring a beach-entry pool, swim-up bars and expanded family attractions alongside upgraded transport infrastructure across the island.
Guests wishing to experience the opening can sail on Norwegian Luna’s seven-night Caribbean itinerary departing from Miami, Florida, US, on 29 August 2026. The voyage includes calls at Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic; St Thomas, US Virgin Islands; Tortola, British Virgin Islands; and Great Stirrup Cay, Bahamas. The 3,565-passenger ship features attractions including the Aqua Slidecoaster, the multi-level Moon Climber course, 17 dining venues and 18 bars and lounges.
The announcement also comes weeks after NCL held a float-out ceremony for Norwegian Aura,
which is set to become the largest ship in the cruise line’s fleet when it enters service in May 2027. The vessel will accommodate 3,880 guests and will be approximately 10%larger than Norwegian Aqua and Norwegian Luna.
