Qatar’s Hamad International Airport (HIA) has also resumed international airline operations following the reopening of Qatar’s airspace, which closed following the outbreak of the Iran conflict on 28 February 2026 and led to a temporary suspension of flights.
According to Qatar Tourism data, the country welcomed more than 3.5 million international visitors in the first nine months of 2025, marking a 2.2% year-on-year increase. Growth was driven in part by long-haul markets, with arrivals from China and Australia rising 37% and 31% respectively.
The destination continues to strengthen its global positioning through cultural initiatives, including participation in the upcoming 61st International Art Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia, running from 9 May to 22 November 2026, alongside events such as the Doha Jewellery & Watches Exhibition and Qatar International Food Festival, among others.
The country is targeting six million visitors annually by 2030 as part of its longer-term tourism strategy.
