Our Habitas names GM for Ras Abrouq resort in Qatar

Our Habitas has appointed John Halliday as General Manager of Our Habitas Ras Abrouq, the brand’s 48-villa seafront resort located on Qatar’s west coast at the edge of the Unesco-designated Al Reem Biosphere Reserve.

 

Based in Qatar, Halliday will lead the property’s operations, guest experience and strategic development, supporting the Ennismore-owned brand’s continued regional expansion and positioning in the experiential luxury space.

 

Bringing more than 28 years of international experience, Halliday has a proven track record in operational excellence, brand leadership and luxury resort management.

 

He joins Our Habitas following his role as Hotel Manager at The Ritz-Carlton Ras Al Khaimah, Al Hamra Beach, where his leadership delivered strong commercial results while maintaining high service standards and team engagement.

His career includes senior positions with Anantara Hotels & Resorts, where he managed desert resort operations, major renovation projects and VIP guest experiences. His broad expertise spans operations, F&B, sustainability and experiential programming, aligning closely with Our Habitas’ ethos of community, culture and connection.

 

Describing Our Habitas Ras Abrouq as a “truly special destination, defined by its landscape, sense of community, and emotional connection to place,” Halliday said he looks forward to building on the brand’s philosophy by creating “meaningful experiences while driving long-term value for the destination and the region”. 

 

The appointment comes as Our Habitas Ras Abrouq strengthens its positioning around wellness, culture and experience-led travel, in line with Qatar’s emergence as a hub for conscious luxury. Located just over an hour from Doha, the property offers spacious villas and a programme of culturally inspired experiences spanning wellness, adventure, music, art, food and learning.

 

Ras Abrouq marks Our Habitas’ second Middle Eastern outpost, following its award-winning regional debut in AlUla, Saudi Arabia. Upcoming openings include Caravan Hatta by Our Habitas in Hatta, Dubai, which will mark the brand’s debut in the UAE in early 2026.
