New AI-powered alliance promises tailored experiences and smoother flights
Qatar Airways and consultancy Accenture have partnered on AI Skyways, an ambitious initiative to implement Artificial Intelligence (AI) across its operations and keep the World’s Best Airline ahead in the aviation game.
The collaboration aims to boost efficiency, sharpen decision-making and, crucially, raise the bar for customer service in the aviation industry, “allowing us to transform how we operate and serve our passengers”, Qatar Airways Group CEO Badr Mohammed Al-Meer said in a statement.
AI Skyways will harness AI for real-time data analysis, enabling faster operational responses and delivering a more personalised passenger journey.
Travellers can expect tailored recommendations, proactive notifications and instant booking or itinerary assistance via the airline’s upgraded AI cabin crew, Sama.
If a flight is disrupted, AI-powered systems will be able to suggest alternatives or rebook instantly. Meanwhile, tools such as Dream Destination – The Pulse will even interpret customer sentiment to recommend holiday options, adding a more intuitive, human-like touch to digital interactions.

Behind the scenes, AI Skyways will support predictive maintenance, optimise crew and fleet allocation, and help keep flights on time, meaning passengers benefit indirectly from smoother, more reliable operations.
“This partnership with Accenture to establish AI Skyways represents a significant milestone in our journey to become leaders in AI-driven aviation,” added Al-Meer.
Qatar Airways says it is committed to responsible AI deployment, which includes ethical guidelines, data privacy, and continuous monitoring of the technology.
The Doha-based carrier has a track record of embracing the latest technology.
Just last month the carrier introduced the world’s fastest inflight Wi-Fi free of charge, implementing advanced Starlink technology across its long-haul fleet of 54 Boeing 777s. The gate-to-gate service delivers speeds of up to 500 MB.
In February, Qatar Airways released an updated version of Sama, the world’s first AI-powered digital human cabin crew.
Originally designed to provide information on flights and itineraries, Sama can now help travellers with bookings via the airline’s app and website and even on social media, where she has her own Instagram account (@SamaOnTheMove).
The airline also showcased Dream Destination – The Pulse, which can interpret customer emotions to suggest holiday destinations.
Taking the lead on latest technology is just one reason why Qatar Airways was recently named World’s Best Airline for a record ninth time at the Skytrax World Airline Awards, as well as winning Best Business Class and Best Airline Lounge.
In May, Qatar Airways Group posted record profits of US$2.15 billion for the financial year, up 28%.
