New route follows London and Dubai ahead of full commercial launch
Riyadh Air, Saudi Arabia’s new national carrier, has revealed plans to launch daily direct flights to Cairo, strengthening air connectivity between the Saudi and Egyptian capitals. The new route will be operated by the airline’s Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner and is expected to “begin soon” after Riyadh Air takes delivery of its first aircraft in the coming weeks.
Cairo becomes the third destination revealed by the carrier, which is currently operating a soft-launch phase with a single daily service between Riyadh and London Heathrow for employees. Full commercial operations are set to commence by April 2026, with initial daily routes to London, Dubai and Cairo.
The Riyadh–Cairo corridor ranks among the world’s busiest capital-to-capital routes, carrying approximately 2.7 million passengers last year.
Riyadh Air said the decision to serve Cairo reflects sustained demand across business, leisure and religious segments, and marks an obvious next step in the airline’s international growth strategy.
