Artist Discovery Programme to feature six creatives
Royal Caribbean has selected six emerging artists to create artwork for the Legend of the Seas, ahead of the ship’s debut in July 2026.
The selected artists are Giovanni Abath (Curaçao), Vanessa Dalla Costa (Trinidad and Tobago), Porschia Denning (US Virgin Islands), Rafael Vega Feliciano (Puerto Rico), Rodrigo Macias Maldonado (Mexico) and Alexander Lopez Ryliouk (Costa Rica).
Shortlisted through the cruise line’s Artist Discovery Programme, the creatives will create bespoke works for six locations across the ship, including the embarkation area, Royal Promenade and Suite Sundeck. The collection will include large-scale murals, ceramic mosaics and stainless-steel sculptures inspired by each artist’s home country.
The programme has expanded beyond Royal Caribbean’s ships to its destinations. Royal Beach Club Paradise Island in The Bahamas is also showcasing works by 11 Bahamian creatives across 25 locations.
The Artist Discovery Programme continues to expand, bringing more emerging artists onboard while extending its reach beyond the Caribbean for the first time. Legend of the Seas will feature works by artists from Mexico and Central America, broadening the range of cultural perspectives showcased throughout the ship.

Jay Schneider, Chief Product Innovation Officer at Royal Caribbean, said: “Featuring artists onboard our ships and across our destinations like Royal Beach Club Paradise Island creates a seamless ship-to-shore experience, where the art brings each destination to life.”
Royal Caribbean received more than 250 applications from artists across the Caribbean, Mexico and Central America before selecting the final six, each of whom received a grant to develop an original commission for the ship.
The vessel will begin sailing seven-night Western Mediterranean itineraries from Barcelona and Rome (Civitavecchia) in July 2026, before repositioning to Fort Lauderdale in November for six-night Western Caribbean and eight-night Southern Caribbean cruises, including visits to Perfect Day at CocoCay in The Bahamas.
The announcement follows another milestone for Royal Caribbean’s fleet expansion. Construction recently began on the cruise line’s seventh Oasis Class ship at the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, France, ahead of its planned 2028 debut. Royal Caribbean is also expanding its destination portfolio through its Royal Beach Club Collection, with Royal Beach Club Paradise Island and Royal Beach Club Santorini among its latest developments.
