Third Icon Class ship will launch on 11 July rather than 2 August, 2026
Royal Caribbean has brought forward Legend of the Seas’ inaugural sailing next summer as construction is “progressing ahead of schedule”.
Passengers booked on the debut voyage were informed by email that the third Icon Class ship would enter service just over three weeks earlier than previously expected.
The line will add three seven-night sailings on 11 July, 18 July and 25 July before the original scheduled launch date of 2 August.
The inaugural sailing will now depart from Civitavecchia (Rome) instead of Barcelona and will call in Naples, Barcelona, Palma De Mallorca and Marseille.

Passengers booked on to the original inaugural cruise will have the priority to move to earlier sailings before they go on general sale.
Suite passengers will have one week to take advantage of price protection to swap over to the first sail date, and after a week has passed and for the two additional sale dates, this will be at the prevailing rate.
Passengers booked in interior, oceanview and balcony cabins can transfer their bookings to an earlier sailing at the prevailing rate.
The third ship in the Icon Class series, following Icon of the Seas and Star of the Seas, Legend will spend summer 2026 sailing seven-night Western Mediterranean itineraries before repositioning to the Caribbean in November.
From its US homeport, the US$2-billion-plus mega-ship will then offer six-night Western Caribbean and eight-night Southern Caribbean voyages, including calls at the line’s award-winning private island, Perfect Day at CocoCay.
Like its predecessors, Legend of the Seas is designed to push boundaries at sea.
Guests can expect the largest waterpark on any cruise ship — complete with six record-breaking slides — as well as seven pools, the world’s biggest swim-up bar, and an adults-only infinity pool suspended eight decks above the ocean.
Dining will be a global affair, with more than 40 bars and restaurants ranging from Royal Caribbean favourites Johnny Rockets and Jamie’s Italian to sushi, New England-style seafood, and speciality venues.
New family-friendly layouts will also feature prominently, including split bathrooms and kids’ hideaway bunks.
