Royal Caribbean starts work on seventh Oasis-class ship

Royal Caribbean has started building its seventh Oasis Class ship at the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, France. 

Construction officially began with a traditional keel-laying ceremony, during which representatives from Royal Caribbean and the French manufacturer placed newly minted coins beneath the ship’s keel. The longstanding maritime tradition is associated with good fortune for the vessel, its crew and future guests.

The ship is scheduled to enter service in 2028 and will become the seventh member of Royal Caribbean’s Oasis Class fleet. Further details regarding its name and onboard attractions, entertainment and dining venues will be revealed closer to launch.

Alongside the new Oasis Class vessel, Royal Caribbean is due to take delivery of three new Icon Class ships in 2028, further expanding capacity across its global fleet.

Oasis Class ships were first introduced in 2009 with Oasis of the Seas, the largest cruise ship of its time. The vessel introduced themed neighbourhood concepts onboard, including the Central Park, an open-air retreat featuring more than 10,000 plants, the Boardwalk with carnival-style entertainment and the Royal Promenade, home to retail and dining outlets.

Royal Caribbean is also expanding its destination portfolio through its Royal Beach Club collection. Recent additions include Royal Beach Club Paradise Island in the Bahamas and Royal Beach Club Santorini, the brand’s first European location.
