SalamAir boosts Asia connectivity with 2 new routes

SalamAir, Oman’s low-cost carrier, is expanding its Asia network with two new routes to cities in Bangladesh and Indonesia.

On 3 July 2026, the airline launched flights to Medan, Indonesia, its first-ever route to the Southeast Asian country. The twice-weekly service operates between Muscat International Airport (MCT) and Kualanamu International Airport (KNO) on Fridays and Tuesdays. One-way fares start from OMR55 (US$143), with services operated by an Airbus A321neo and a flight time of around six hours each way.

Friday services depart Muscat at 17:45 and arrive in Medan at 03:15 the following day, with return flights leaving at 04:00 and landing in Muscat at 07:25. On Tuesdays, departures leave Muscat at 17:25, arriving at 02:55, while the return service departs at 03:40 and arrives back in Oman at 07:05.

The capital of Indonesia’s North Sumatra province, Medan is the country’s third-largest city and home to natural landmarks including Lake Toba, the world’s largest volcanic lake, and Bukit Lawang, a jungle known for its orangutans.

SalamAir’s second upcoming destination is Sylhet, Bangladesh, marking the carrier’s third route to the South Asian country.

Services will operate three times a week from Muscat on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, with one-way fares starting from OMR66.99 (US$174). Flights depart MCT at 00:45, arriving at Osmani International Airport (ZYL) at 07:35. Return services leave Sylhet at 08:20, landing in Muscat at 11:20.
