Twice-weekly non-stop service to begin 3 September 2026
Oman’s low-cost carrier SalamAir is set to introduce flights to Mogadishu, Somalia, on 3 September 2026, establishing the first-ever direct link between the sultanate and the East African nation.
The airline will operate two weekly services between Muscat International Airport (MCT) and Mogadishu Aden Adde International Airport (MGQ), with one-way Lite fares starting from OMR79.99, providing GCC travellers with an affordable, short-haul connection to Somalia’s capital.
On Thursdays, flights will depart Muscat at 04:00, arriving in Mogadishu at 07:00, with the return leg leaving MGQ at 07:45 and landing in MCT at 12:55.
Sunday services will take off from Muscat at 10:05, reaching Mogadishu at 13:05, while the return flight will depart MGQ at 13:50 and arrive in MCT at 19:00.

Somalia becomes the airline’s fourth African route, joining Kenya, Egypt and the recently introduced Sudan. Globally, SalamAir flies to more than 40 destinations across Asia, Africa and Europe.
Commenting on the launch, Adrian Hamilton-Manns, Chief Executive Officer of SalamAir, said: “Somalia has seen significant economic growth and development in recent years; our direct flights will further stimulate the economy and help create new travel and trade opportunities.

SalamAir’s ongoing network expansion supports Oman Vision 2040, enhancing international connectivity and promoting local tourism. The airline recently announced the addition of Vienna to its network, becoming the first carrier to offer direct, non-stop services between Oman and Austria. Flights will commence on 24 June 2026, operating three times weekly, further reinforcing SalamAir’s presence in Europe.
