Service to commence June 2026

SalamAir, Oman’s low-cost carrier, will launch a new non-stop route between Muscat and Vienna, marking the first-ever direct air service between the sultanate and Austria. Scheduled to commence 24 June 2026, the route will strengthen the airline’s presence in Europe and provide onward connections to the Middle East and beyond for inbound travellers.
The service will operate three times per week on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Flights will depart Muscat International Airport (MCT) at 08:35, arriving in Vienna International Airport (VIE) at 13:30. The return leg will leave Vienna at 14:30, landing in Muscat at 22:30. The route will be operated using an Airbus A321, with an approximate flight time of six hours.
Vienna joins SalamAir’s network of more than 40 destinations across the Middle East, Africa, Asia and Europe. While the airline has previously operated seasonal routes to European cities such as Sarajevo and Istanbul, Vienna will be one of the few year-round European destinations offered to travellers in 2026.

Commenting on the launch, Steven Allen, Chief Commercial Officer of SalamAir, said: “The addition of Vienna reflects our focused approach to network growth in Europe. Austria is a growing market for both inbound and outbound travel, and this non-stop service allows us to meet demand with a competitive, cost-efficient offering.”
Alongside its international expansion, SalamAir is also growing regionally, most recently introducing new flights between Muscat and Abha, Saudi Arabia.
Founded in 2017, SalamAir is expanding rapidly, marking the addition of its 15th aircraft in September 2025. As part of its development strategy, the airline plans to establish a new operational base in Salalah by 2028 and grow its fleet to 25 aircraft.
