SalamAir to launch Oman–Rwanda flights

SalamAir, Oman’s low-cost carrier, is set to introduce flights to Kigali, Rwanda, from 21 July 2026, further strengthening its East Africa network.

The airline will operate two weekly services between Muscat International Airport (MCT) and Kigali International Airport (KGL) on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Fares will start from OMR70 (US$180) for one-way tickets. 

Known for its modern infrastructure, Kigali has grown into a hub for conferences and business travel in East Africa, supported by venues such as the Kigali Convention Centre. Often referred to as the ‘land of a thousand hills’, the Rwandan capital features lush green landscapes and rolling hills.

Kigali will become SalamAir’s fifth African destination, adding to existing services to Cairo in Egypt, Port Sudan in Sudan and Nairobi in Kenya, as well as an upcoming launch to Mogadishu in Somalia in September 2026. The airline is also expanding into Europe with a new Muscat–Vienna route starting in June 2026.

The route will become the second direct connection between Muscat and Kigali, following Oman Air’s planned launch of flights to the city in January 2026. The national carrier will begin services in June 2026, one month ahead of SalamAir’s debut.
