Sharjah attracts more than 2.1 million hotel guests

Sharjah’s hotels welcomed 2.1 million guests in 2025, up 22% year-on-year, as annual revenues climbed to AED780 million (US$212 million), according to property consultancy Cavendish Maxwell.

 

The emirate’s 102 hotels recorded average occupancy of 78%, while the average daily rate (ADR) reached AED305 and guests stayed for an average of two nights.

 

The report also highlights a shift towards higher-end accommodation, with three luxury and upscale hotels expecting to add a combined 476 keys by 2030 as investment in tourism and transport infrastructure continues.

 

Ali Siddiqui, Research Manager at Cavendish Maxwell, said: “Major infrastructure investment and expansion are further boosting tourism inflows and hospitality demand in Sharjah. The expansion of Sharjah International Airport and the upcoming Etihad Rail network are set to unlock further hospitality sector growth.”

The findings come as the destination prepares for Sharjah Summer 2026, a 100-day campaign bringing promotional offers and seasonal events to hotels, retail destinations and visitor attractions across the emirate throughout the summer.

 

Sharjah continues to broaden its tourism offering. The emirate recently opened the US$190 million Khor Fakkan Resort, a mixed-use beachfront development on the east coast featuring hotels, residences, retail outlets and leisure facilities.

 

Sharjah International Airport (SHJ) handled a record 19.4 million passengers  in 2025, up 14% year-on-year, and is undergoing a AED4.2 billion expansion programme aimed at increasing annual capacity to 20 million passengers by 2027. Recent investments include the opening of a US$65 million Business Aviation Centre, developed by Gama Aviation, featuring VVIP lounges, a helipad and a private jet hangar capable of accommodating up to 20 aircraft.
