Platform introduces tailored flight and road trip itineraries
Travel platform Skyscanner has introduced a new beta tool, Explore with AI, that enables travellers to search for flights with personalised commands.
Through the new system, users can search using prompts such as "help me find cheap flights to Japan in December”, replacing the need to manually enter details such as destination and travel dates. The platform will then provide tailored recommendations based on user preferences, featuring information on flight prices, trip duration, weather and destination highlights. Sample feedback includes "September is typically 24% cheaper than December" or "Best of both: beaches and family trips."
The tool is currently available for all English-speaking markets across all devices, including desktops and mobile applications. Early testing showed strong engagement, with 60% of users viewing Explore with AI flight search results.

Skyscanner is also introducing AI-generated itineraries to a dedicated Road Trip planner. After entering travel details such as a rental car pick-up location and travel dates, users will be presented with a range of route options, including scenic drives, faster journeys, cultural exploration focused on historical landmarks and adventure trips with outdoor stops.
Existing tools within Skyscanner’s platform have also received new upgrades. Its ’Drops’ feature has been expanded to surface even more fare reductions, as well as more detailed information including departures, arrivals, gate and terminal updates to its flight tracker. Meanwhile, its newly rebranded Stays platform now offers more than five million properties, ranging from hostels and five-star hotels to campsites, capsule accommodation and farm stays.
Bryan Batista, CEO of Skyscanner, said: “By combining our deep travel expertise with the latest technology, our goal is to support travellers in making confident decisions and creating trips that are right for them, transforming travel planning into a seamless part of the adventure."
The latest tools build on earlier AI adoption from Skyscanner. The platform recently also introduced its own app within ChatGPT, allowing travellers to search and compare flights with specific prompts supported by real-time data.
