Four weekly flights will commence on 2 December
Thai AirAsia X is set to launch its first-ever direct flights between Riyadh and Bangkok, marking the airline’s debut service to the Saudi Arabia capital.
The service will commence on 2 December 2025, with four weekly flights on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.
Fares start from SAR1,290 one way, with flights operated by the Airbus A330-300 aircraft, offering 285 seats across premium flatbed and economy cabins.
Flights will depart Bangkok’s Don Mueang Airport (DMK) at 16:00, arriving at Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport (RUH) by 20:20 local time. Return flights leave RUH at 21:35 and land in DMK at 08:45 the next day, cutting the journey time to just seven and a half hours.
Thailand remains a top draw for GCC travellers, with Saudi arrivals up 15.26% year-on-year, according to the Tourism Authority of Thailand.

For Saudi visitors, Bangkok combines world-class shopping, hospitality and entertainment with cultural and culinary experiences, plus halal-certified dining options and prayer rooms, while also serving as a major hub for connections to key regional destinations including Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines and Japan.
Saudi nationals also benefit from Thailand’s e-visa and visa-on-arrival facilities, simplifying access for inbound visitors.
Commenting on the launch, Pattra Boosarawongse, CEO of Thai AirAsia X, said: “We view Riyadh as a strategic destination that aligns with AirAsia Group’s fleet expansion and network development.
“This launch will not only serve Thai travellers but also passengers from across ASEAN – including Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines – as well as from Japan, who can now conveniently connect to Riyadh through our extensive network.”
Among other new routes connecting Riyadh to the world, China Southern Airlines inaugurated direct Guangzhou–Riyadh service in September, while in October, Saudia will introduce Riyadh-Moscow flights and Lufthansa will relaunch its Riyadh-Munich service after eight years.
