UAE announces final visa relief for travellers affected by regional conflict

The UAE has introduced a 30-day grace period allowing visitors and residents affected by recent regional disruptions to update their visa status as conditions normalise. 

The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP) confirmed that the extension period will run from 10 June to 9 July 2026. Individuals previously exempted from overstay fines due to delayed departures must regularise their status or depart the UAE before the deadline.

In a statement, the authority said: “The decision aims to reinforce a culture of compliance with the UAE’s laws and regulations while providing affected individuals with an opportunity to rectify their status and continue living in the UAE legally, following the resolution of the crisis and the restoration of stability across the region.”

The ICP first introduced fee waivers on 28 February 2026 for tourists and residents affected by flight suspensions. The temporary relief covered visit and tourist visas, entry permits and cancelled residency permits.

The development follows the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the US and Iran, which prompted several international governments, including the UK and Australia, to ease travel advice for the Gulf.

To help support tourism recovery, regional carriers Emirates and Etihad have enhanced their travel insurance offerings with conflict-related coverage. Emirates provides more comprehensive protection, including accommodation and rebooking costs, while Etihad’s policy is more focused on medical coverage.
