UAE developer acquires 3 UK Marriott golf resorts

Dubai-based real estate developer Select Group has expanded its UK hospitality portfolio with the acquisition of three Delta Hotels by Marriott golf and country club resorts.

 

The agreement includes Delta Hotels Breadsall Priory Country Club in Derbyshire, Delta Hotels St Pierre Country Club in Chepstow, Wales and Delta Hotels Tudor Park Country Club in Maidstone, Kent. Together, the three resorts offer 380 keys across more than 900 acres of freehold countryside estates.

 

The deal builds on Select Group’s earlier acquisitions of The Mere Golf Resort & Spa in Cheshire and Old Thorns Hotel & Resort in Hampshire, bringing its golf resort portfolio to five properties and more than 530 keys.

 

Select Group plans to invest in operational upgrades across the newly acquired properties, focusing on guest experience, wellness facilities, golf operations, events and long-term asset performance.

Golf tourism and wellness-led resort travel continue attracting growing investor interest globally. According to market research firm Future Market Insights, the golf tourism market is valued at US$24.8 billion in 2026 and forecast to reach US$39.2 billion by 2036.

 

The sector’s appeal is partly driven by higher visitor spend, with golf tourists estimated to outspend traditional leisure travellers by 30 to 50% through bundled accommodation, dining, spa, events and green fee spending.

 

The UK remains one of Europe’s largest golf tourism markets, supported by more than 3,000 golf courses and continued investment into integrated leisure destinations combining golf, wellness, events and outdoor hospitality experiences.
