UAE extends visa-on-arrival to 6 more countries

The UAE has extended its visa-on-arrival programme to include nationals of six new countries, in a move aimed at easing entry procedures and strengthening international connectivity.

 

Under the expanded scheme introduced by the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP), select nationals of Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, the Philippines, Kenya and South Africa, along with their accompanying family members, can obtain a 14-day or 60-day visa on arrival.

 

Eligibility is restricted to travellers holding a valid residence permit issued by the US, UK, EU, Canada, Singapore, Japan, South Korea, Australia or New Zealand. The applicable fee is AED100 (US$25) for a 14-day visa and AED250 (US$70) for a 60-day visa.

 

A one-time extension is available for the 14-day visa, while the 60-day visa is issued for a single stay and is not extendable. Holders must depart upon expiry of either visa, with an overstay fine of AED 50 (US$13) per day for stays beyond the permitted period.

In an online statement, the ICP said: “The new amendments reflect the Authority’s ongoing efforts to enhance the UAE’s visa framework, expand the scope of beneficiaries, and align its services with global best practices in travel, tourism and mobility.” 

 

With the addition of these six countries, the UAE now offers on-arrival visas for travellers from 96 countries. The announcement comes as travel across the GCC rebounds after a period of softer tourism activity amid regional tensions in the Middle East. In May 2026, passenger volumes rose nearly 70% month-on-month, according to data from Dragonpass. The UAE in particular accounted for 48.7% of regional activity and recorded a 75% increase in travel demand. 

 

To further drive tourism, UAE flag carrier Emirates has introduced a comprehensive travel policy offering conflict-related coverage, including medical support, rebooking and accommodation assistance. Atlantis Dubai is also offering resort credit matching the value of Emirates travel insurance for guests staying at its two flagship resorts this summer.
