UAE nationals issued travel ban to Iran, Lebanon and Iraq

The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced a travel ban for UAE nationals travelling to Iran, Lebanon and Iraq on 30 April, urging those currently in the three countries to return without delay.

In a statement, it said a ban is now in place, adding that UAE citizens currently in any of the three countries should “expedite their immediate return to the UAE".

UAE nationals in the affected countries have also been urged to remain in contact via the emergency hotline (+971 800 44444), and to follow all official instructions and advisories to ensure their safety.

The advisory is based on safety concerns, with several regions affected by the ongoing conflict following the outbreak of the Iran war on 28 February 2026. A two-week conditional ceasefire was agreed on 8 April and extended on 21 April to allow for further negotiations. Despite this, affected areas remain at risk with conditions on the ground subject to change.

Data from International Air Transport Association (IATA) for March 2026 shows that while global air passenger demand rose 2.1% year-on-year, Middle Eastern carriers recorded a 60.8% drop in demand alongside a 56.9% reduction in capacity.
