UAE’s Etihad Rail confirms start of passenger services

Etihad Rail will begin passenger services on 30 June 2026, launching an initial phase of daily operations ahead of the nationwide network debut on 30 September 2026.

Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, announced the launch date during the inauguration of the Mohamed bin Zayed City Passenger Train Station on 23 June.

The first stage will connect Abu Dhabi and Fujairah, with journey times of 1 hour 45 minutes, compared with nearly three hours by road. Daily operations will include three departures in each direction. Trains will leave Fujairah at 05:34, 10:59 and 17:28, while services from Abu Dhabi will depart at 08:19, 13:53 and 18:39.

To mark the start of operations, Etihad Rail is offering a 50% discount on round-trip tickets between Abu Dhabi and Fujairah. Fares start from AED55 (US$15) in Comfort Class and AED120 (US$33) in Premium Class. Tickets are now available through the Etihad Rail website and mobile app. 

Passengers can choose between Comfort Class and Premium Class cabins. Premium Class features wider reclining seats with extra legroom, alongside complimentary snacks and beverages. Both cabins offer free Wi-Fi, while services such as seat selection, ticket changes and refunds are available for an additional fee. The fleet comprises 13 trains, each capable of carrying up to 400 passengers.
