Wynn Al Marjan Island to introduce immersive theatre concept

Wynn Al Marjan Island, the integrated resort under development in Ras Al Khaimah, has partnered with immersive theatre company Punchdrunk to launch an original live production when the resort opens in 2027, marking the company’s first show in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA).

 

Created exclusively for Wynn by Punchdrunk Founder and Artistic Director Felix Barrett, the original production will combine a traditional seated theatre performance with an interactive, free-roaming experience, allowing guests to choose how they experience the same story. Inspired by classic Las Vegas revue shows, it will blend world-class music, dance and immersive storytelling in a purpose-built theatre.

 

The venue has been designed as a modern interpretation of a classic theatre, drawing on Art Deco influences and the glamour of Hollywood’s golden era and 1970s Las Vegas. Each area, from the lobby and aisles to the restrooms and lifts, has been designed as part of the immersive experience.

Founded in 2000, Punchdrunk is widely regarded as a pioneer of immersive theatre. The company is best known for Sleep No More, which ran in New York for 14 years and has since expanded to Seoul and Shanghai.

 

Wynn Resorts has a long history of developing purpose-built theatres within its luxury resorts, commissioning original productions inspired by Broadway and the West End. Previous collaborations have included Cirque du Soleil productions and Le Rêve, one of Las Vegas’ longest-running aquatic shows.

 

The announcement comes as construction continues at Wynn Al Marjan Island following a brief pause after the outbreak of the Iran conflict on 28 February 2026. Billings recently said regional shipping and logistics challenges could result in a modest opening delay to the resort’s opening, but described the situation as “manageable” with more than 22,000 workers continuing construction on site.

 

Set across more than 60 hectares on Al Marjan Island, the integrated resort will feature more than 1,500 rooms and suites, villas, a marina, beach club, spa, multiple swimming pools and the UAE’s first regulated gaming facility.
