Shangri-La launches ‘playcation’ packages for domestic markets

The operator is enticing young guests with special amenities, themed celebrations and overnight ‘playcation’ packages

Shangri-La is turning vacations into ‘playcations’ with children’s amenities, themed celebrations and family packages. Young guests can find their ‘Shangri-La’ with special children’s sleep setups, afternoon teas and superhero- and princess-themed celebrations.

Catering to Oman residents, and GCC nationals following the opening of land borders between the Sultanate and the GCC, Oman’s Shangri-La Barr Al Jissah, Muscat is leading the campaign in the Middle East, offering guests Fun-Filled Family Adventure overnight packages.

Surrounded by 124 acres of gardens and a 500-metre beach, families can enjoy the facilities, which include swimming pools, a splashpad and Muscat’s only lazy river. In addition, the package includes 50% off meals for children under 16, early-check in and late check-out from Sundays to Wednesdays.

There are only five turtle nesting sites in the Sultanate of Oman and the protected beach of Shangri-La Barr Al Jissah, Muscat is among them. Guests have a high chance of witnessing the hatching and release of baby turtles, which takes place from mid-April until September.

Families can also experience ‘The Quest’, a fun way to explore the resort through a mobile-based treasure hunt, watch blockbuster movies at the open-air cinema on Fridays, and for an additional charge, embark on a dolphin-watching boat trip or indulge in a 1001 Arabian-Nights inspired ‘Sunset Majlis Dinner’, a family feast served on the beach.
