Cruise operators launch global revival campaigns

P&O Cruises and Celebrity Cruises are among cruise lines investing in multi-million-dollar TV ads for the new cruise season

Ahead of the new season, P&O Cruises marked its return on 25 September with a new television advert, entitled ‘What a night’.

The ad features a couple recounting holiday memories from P&O Cruises’ new ship Iona and will run until November 2021 with filming for further iterations, focused on the Mediterranean and Caribbean, already underway.

P&O Cruises president Paul Ludlow said: “A P&O Cruises holiday is all about the variety of experiences, which we were keen to convey in our latest TV advertising concept. The past 18 months have highlighted that we need pivotal, vital moments to create memories which are full of joy.”

Celebrity Cruises has also launched a multi-million-dollar global advertising campaign aiming to entice guests to reawaken their wanderlust and reconnect with the people and the world around them.

The campaign film features new luxury experiences while doubling down on the key messages of safety and inclusivity.

Nearly 16 months after it suspended operations due to the pandemic, Celebrity Cruises made its long-anticipated return to UK and Ireland shores this summer when its revamped ship, Celebrity Silhouette, set sail from Southampton, offering new luxury staycations to discerning guests. The brand also became the first cruise line to sail with guests from North America on Celebrity Edge.

Celebrity Cruises president Lisa Lutoff-Perlo said: “It took enduring a pandemic, where we were literally cut-off from each other and the world, to recognise how powerful and meaningful travel is in our lives.”
