Abu Dhabi adds UK to its ‘green list’

Nine countries have been added to the list of destinations exempt from quarantine requirements

Coming into effect on Sunday, 25 April, Abu Dhabi has added nine new destinations to its ‘green list’ of countries.

Passengers arriving from the ‘green list’ destinations are exempt from mandatory quarantine measures after landing in Abu Dhabi and will only be required to undergo PCR testing upon arrival at Abu Dhabi Airport.

According to the latest update from the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT), the list now comprises 23 countries, up from 14 issued earlier this month.

The new inclusions in the list include Cuba, Japan, Portugal, Russia, Switzerland, Taiwan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and the United Kingdom.

The addition of the UK to the list comes as the country has managed to keep its COVID-19 cases under control with an extensive vaccination rollout. The country is currently reopening its economy gradually, with the aim of lifting all restrictions by 21 June.

“Inclusion in the list is subject to strict criteria of health and safety to ensure the well-being of the UAE community,” the DCT said.
