Three properties in Koh Samui and Phuket feature in season 3 of the HBO TV show

The TV show on everyone’s lips is also putting Thailand top of destination bucket lists, with 'The White Lotus effect' – one of the hottest trends in hospitality – about to hit Anantara hard.

While the majority of the action in season three of the hit show takes place at the all-villa Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui, three Anantara properties all play leading roles.

Set-jetters are heading to Koh Samui and Phuket to live a little Lotus, and they can do that in style at Anantara Bophut Koh Samui Resort, Anantara Lawana Koh Samui Resort and Anantara Mai Khao Phuket Villas.

Nestled within a lush tropical garden around a pond filled with lotus flowers, Anantara Bophut Koh Samui Resort is the location for multiple scenes, including the signature Thai-style lobby, security station, resort entrance, employee parking lot and jewellery store. The beachfront property is home to a treetop-style bar, a spa with glass-walled treatment rooms and sweeping views of the Gulf of Thailand.

Located on Samui's east coast, the recently reopened 121-key Anantara Lawana Koh Samui Resort is the setting for the Lotus bar scenes, which take place in the resort’s Singing Bird Lounge, and Anantara Mai Khao Phuket Villas is used for The Wellness Sanctuary, Spa, and Belinda’s Room. This all-villa resort is set along Phuket’s longest beach, and features a lily-padded lagoon.

Anantara has been quick to jump on the White Lotus effect opportunity, where hotels featured on the show are bombarded with bookings, launching The Lotus Awakening Escape package that could be a goldmine for agents deluged by fans of the fictional show.

This four-night retreat takes in both Koh Samui and Phuket and includes signature experiences at all three filming locations.

The package includes accommodation for two guests at former coconut plantation Anantara Bophut Koh Samui Resort, plus a ‘Passage of the Lotus’ experience, visits to Big Buddha and Wat Plai Laem temples, and a trip to the Elephant Kingdom shelter. Then there's the Lotus Indulgence spa experience for two, and the signature Cocoon dining experience on the beach, featuring a lotus-inspired menu.

At Anantara Lawana Koh Samui Resort, guests can also enjoy a themed cocktail at The Singing Bird Lounge and an eight-course set dinner at Tree Tops Signature Dining, two outdoor venues wrapped around a 120-year-old tree.

The package concludes with a stay at Anantara Mai Khao Phuket Villas, with a guided tour of the island before another spa ritual, called Lotus Awakening, and a Lotus Season dinner at La Sala, where guests can feast on authentic Indian cuisine beside the lotus-filled lagoon.
