Bahrain to open region's first-of-its-kind surf park

Tourist attraction will launch on southwest coast in 2026

Bahrain Real Estate Investment Company (Edamah) has agreed with GFH Financial Group to launch the the Middle East's first surf park adopting Wavegarden Cove technology.

Bahrain Surf Park – Club Hawaii Experience, the first leisure and entertainment venue of the Bilaj Al Jazayer development, is scheduled to open on Bahrain’s southwest coast in 2026.

Once open, its Wavegarden Cove surf pool will accommodate up to 90 surfers and produce 1,000 waves per hour, catering to all skill levels. The wave-making technology has the lowest energy consumption on the market.

Club Hawaii Surf Academy will also be part of the park, responsible for mentoring surfers through comprehensive training programmes for beginners, improvers, intermediates and advanced surfers.

According to Edamah, the leisure development is expected to attract 300,000 visitors per year, with upwards of 140,000 surf sessions annually.

The park will have food and beverage outlets, a terrace, a retail store, cabanas, an event space and a large private entertainment area for corporate and school groups.

CEO of Mumtalakat and Chairman of Edamah, Shaikh Abdulla bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, said: "We are excited to announce the development of Bahrain Surf Park – Club Hawaii Experience, which will be transformational for the tourism and recreation sectors."

There are plans afoot host an international surfing competition at the park once it opens.
