The 10-bedroom Casa Nossa in Portugal's Alentejo region will serve menus designed by Avillez

José Avillez has announced the launch of his new estate in Alentejo. Located by the Alqueva river bank, the five-star Casa Nossa – The Lake Farmhouse offers guests seclusion and stunning views.

Surrounded by 65 hectares of natural landscape, the property was discovered by Portuguese chef José Avillez and his wife, Sofia Ulrich, a compulsive reader and amateur photographer. Together, they restored and redesigned the run-down property.

Available to rent as a single property with all meals conceived and prepared by José Avillez’s team, Casa Nossa is a hidden gem in Alentejo, Campinho, near Monsaraz, one of Portugal's most beautiful villages.

The property is surrounded by 65 hectares of natural landscape

The house features 10 comfortable suites as well as several spaces to socialise, including a sitting room, bar, library and dining room where guests can enjoy chef José Avillez's signature cuisine.

There's also a wine cellar with a room for wine tasting, and a cinema and entertainment room. On the exterior, the porch offers a 180º views of the lake.

The house is surrounded by hundred-year-old holm oaks, native plants, fruit trees, fragrant herbs and a vegetable garden where the season's best products flourish.

It includes a selection of traditional and contemporary dishes, prepared daily according to the farm-to-table model using seasonal and local products where possible.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included in the stay and are planned according to the guests' preferences.

Guests can enjoy boat trips on the lake

Onsite, the estate features two pools and direct access to Alqueva's lake, with a small river beach and private moorage for nautical sports.

Other facilities include a gym, massages, yoga, tennis and padel and boat trips on the lake, with picnics on board or on one of Alqueva's tiny islands.

The interior design was carried out by Studio Astolfi, and the decor's highlight is a selection of pieces of traditional Portuguese craftwork curated by Felipa Almeida.

Casa Nossa is also available for weddings and corporate events with up to 100 guests.
