Luxury operator reveals list of the best places to go for a dose of vitamin D
Dubai has ranked second in a list of the top 15 places to go to for a vitamin-boosting, winter-sun getaway in a survey by luxury tour operator Scott Dunn.
The research takes into account factors that contribute to vitamin absorption. By analysing the number of sunny days throughout the year, air quality index and average temperatures during this time of the year, Scott Dunn ranked the top destinations for the perfect winter-sun holiday.
Dubai has 266 clear days per year with an average temperature of 26C and scored 75. Dubai’s low air quality score of 71 pushed it into second place behind Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic.
It’s estimated that during the winter months, 42% of Americans experience a vitamin D deficiency due to a lack of sun exposure. Although Dubai ranks second for a winter-sun vacation, there is a large amount of interest from Americans as Dubai has the highest monthly Google searches of 550,000, which spike during the winter months.
