Emirates opens its first retail store in Kenya

Outlet marks airline’s first shop in Africa with more to come

Dubai's flagship carrier Emirates has opened an Emirates World store in Nairobi, Kenya, introducing the concept to Africa for the first time.

The store, which is expected to be the first of many for the country, is centrally located in the Cube, Riverside Drive, offering customers travel advice, either from dedicated consultants or through self-service smart technologies and immersive displays to bring the airline’s signature product closer to Kenyan travellers.

The Emirates World store was inaugurated by Adil Al Ghaith, Senior Vice President, Commercial Operations Center, alongside Dr Salim Alnaqbi, UAE Ambassador to Kenya.

The retail space is more than 330 square metres in size and designed as an open-plan, lounge-like environment.

Guests can experience the Emirates A380 Onboard experience with an immersive, full-size aircraft lounge showcase, and explore the smart technology experiences such as the ‘selfie mirror’, which layers images of travellers on scenic destination backdrops.

Expert consultants, manning six customer service counters, are on hand to help plan travel itineraries, support reservations and ticketing, and address general enquiries.

Since the first flight to Nairobi in October 1995, Emirates has flown more than five million passengers to and from Kenya on double daily flights from Dubai.

Beyond its operations, Emirates supports three Kenyan humanitarian organisations focused on child welfare through the Emirates Airline Foundation.

Commenting on the milestone, Adnan Kazim, Emirates’ Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer, said: “We're pleased to bring our reimagined retail store concept to Africa for the first time, elevating our customer experience in Kenya, and then in more destinations across the continent in the coming months. We can’t wait to inspire our customers to discover more with Emirates when they visit the store."
