Facility at Zayed International Airport offers passengers preclearance ahead of flights to US
Premium guests flying from Abu Dhabi to the US with Etihad Airways can now enjoy an enhanced passenger experience at the US Preclearance Lounge.
Zayed International Airport has the only US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Preclearance facility in the Middle East, and one of only a few worldwide.
This allows passengers to complete US customs and immigration paperwork before boarding their flight in Abu Dhabi and arrive in the US classified as domestic passengers, saving time on arrival.
Etihad’s new lounge is located close to the preclearance facility and offers guests a selection of food and drinks. Some flights offer direct boarding from the lounge.

The Etihad US Preclearance Lounge is accessible by guests travelling in The Residence, First or Business, as well as Platinum and Emerald Etihad Guest members. Paid access is also available.
"By combining our premium lounge service with the convenience of US Preclearance, we're offering our guests an elevated journey through Abu Dhabi before they even board their flight,” said John Wright, Chief Operations & Guest Officer at Etihad Airways.
All Etihad flights from Abu Dhabi to the US have access to the US Customs and Border Protection Preclearance facility. If you are not a US citizen or legal resident then biometric and fingerprint data can be processed after check-in at Zayed International.
Etihad flies to four destinations in the US, with nonstop flights to Boston, Chicago, New York and Washington DC. There are plans to launch flights to Atlanta in July 2025.
