Flydubai launches UAE's first direct flight to Basel, Switzerland

Route served on a Boeing 737 MAX aircraft

Dubai's low-cost carrier Flydubai has begun its direct service to Basel and in doing so became the first UAE carrier to operate direct flights to the city in Switzerland from the UAE.

Flights between uroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg (BSL) from Dubai International (DXB) will operate on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday from Terminal 3, Dubai International (DXB) with passengers travelling on Boeing 737 MAX aircraft.

Flights will depart Dubai at 7:25am, arriving in Basel at 12:35am, with return flights scheduled to leave Basel at 1:35pm, landing back Dubai at 10:05pm.

The inaugural flight from Dubai to Basel was met with a water cannon salute.

Situated on the borders of northwest Switzerland, the Alsace historical region in France and Baden-Württemberg in Germany, EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg serves as a unique gateway to three different countries, while Basel, on the river Rhine, is regarded as Switzerland’s cultural capital and a gateway to the famous Swiss countryside.

With the introduction of flights to Basel, Flydubai has grown its European network to 29 destinations, including Budapest, Catania, Krakow, Milan-Bergamo, Prague, Salzburg and Zagreb.

“EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg serves Switzerland, France and Germany, making it an important hub for travel, trade and tourism in the tri-border region that will benefit our customers from the UAE and beyond, and we also look forward to welcoming more travellers from Europe to Dubai on the Flydubai network.”
